When our parents started Star Lane & Dierberg Vineyards 30 years ago, they had two particular things in mind – creating wines that compete with the best in the world, and the joy of exploring a particular time and place through wine as it ages. Reflecting back on our parents’ accomplishments, it is clear that the vineyards they chose to develop have overdelivered on both goals.
This year, on the 30th anniversary of our parents commencing this journey by purchasing Star Lane ranch, now Star Lane Vineyard, we are starting a new program to offer limited quantities of some of our best wines, and wines that we have held back to allow them to mature and create additional layers of complexity. We will offer them on a first-come first-served basis to current club members like yourself and other VIP customers starting March 11, 2026, and the offering will close on March 28, 2026.
What to Expect from this, and future releases:
We will release two wines, including the 2019 Astral, which one of the most prominent US critics, Jeb Dunnuck, gave 98 points, calling it “world class.” Here is what he had to say about the wine:
“It has a touch more cassis and violet notes as well as Saint-Julien-like minerality, violets, flowers, and graphite nuances. These carry to a medium to full-bodied, incredibly pure, concentrated, seamless 2019 offering ripe, present tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This is one of the finest wines I’ve tasted from this estate, and it’s world class. It offers pleasure today given its texture and purity, but it won’t hit maturity for another 7-8 years and will have 30 years of overall longevity. Hats off to the team at Star Lane.” -Jeb Dunnuck, 8/23
Dunnuck has only reaffirmed what we ourselves and many of you have known for a long time, that Star Lane produces Cabernet and other Bordeaux varietals that compete with the best in the world. Furthermore, our President and Winemaker, Tyler Thomas, has taken these wines to a new level that is exceptional when young, but made in a way that they can age extremely well. Those of you who have visited the winery or attended one of our events may have heard about our dad’s 250-year plan to keep each wine for future enjoyment, and these wines have all it takes for a memorable experience 250 years from now!
This spring we will also make available the tiny remaining amount of the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc. Star Lane has something in the terroir that promotes wonderful character development as white wines age. An aged Sauvignon Blanc from Star Lane is often a family favorite, an unexpected pleasure for many who are lucky enough to taste the limited examples we hold back. Be sure to jump on this because supply is extremely limited!

A Note to our Valued Members: Because this offering is on a first-come, first-served basis, to ensure availability of the wine please be sure to purchase from the upcoming release offering when the purchase period opens. We will process orders for the limited-release wines as they are ordered. However, for club members we are happy to consolidate shipments of 2019 Astral and 2016 Sauvignon Blanc with your upcoming club shipment.
