Star Lane Wines
Our 2008 Merlot begins with scents of blackberry, mocha, vanilla and wild sage.  The palate is lean but pretty.  There is a great balance between red and black fruit presence which is accentuated by a taste of bitter chocolate and fresh cacao beans.  The wine finishes with black olive with an emphasis on the mocha and chocolate character of the wine.
The 2007 Estate blossoms with a nose deeply evocative of Santa Rosa plum, crème de cassis, and blackberry which are given complexity by wild sage and chaparral. The mid-palate is marked by a strong mineral presence, with a chalky, savory richness joined to round fruit and notes of Moroccan spice. Structure and balance are given by a bright spine of acidity. As with past wines from Star Lane Vineyard, the 2007 Estate will age beautifully over the coming decades.
Our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc opens with the tropical fruit aromatics that we are coming to identify as uniquely Happy Canyon- guava, papaya, mango, and pineapple. These are joined on the palate by citrus fruits, particularly Mandarin orange, as well as nuances of ginger and Shiso leaf. There is a beautiful long finish of cut apple, pear and baking spice complete with a sense of minerality.
Black cherry, cassis, violets and dark purple aromatics present in the nose. Focused dark berries produce a beautiful core, with hints of mocha and cocoa unfolding on the palate, adding to the density of the wine.
Dierberg Wines
Opens with a room-filling bouquet of cinnamon, redwood, Chandler strawberry, and our characteristic "Santa Maria spice"- a mélange of spices, particularly black pepper and cumin. Mid palate notes of small red fruits and baking spice are given further depth by hints of iron, mocha, and cedar box. We expect our 2008 Pinot Noir to deliver long-term pleasure for those with the patience to cellar it.
Our 2008 Dierberg Syrah shows its typical dark fruit character in the form of blueberry and huckleberry.  This vintage is also complemented by more subtle red fruit aromatics, particularly cranberry.  There is a wonderful savory character on display with notes of hung game and pancetta giving support to prominent floral character.  The palate weight is round and giving with a sort of lean, dusty presence marked by a top note of wet clay.  Our Syrah drinks well in its youth, and should also deliver many years of cellar worthy enjoyment.
The 2008 Dierberg Chardonnay leads with vivid aromas of deep mango, rich lemon, a hint of fresh lemon peel, and creamy hazelnut. On the palate the wine is lush citrus:  lemon curd, lemon blossoms, and lemon rind with a slight toasted sesame seed accent. The wine finishes with the focused acidity and a tightly wound structure that the Dierberg Chardonnays have come to be known for.
